Introduction

Metal cutting machines are the main type of factory equipment intended for the production of all modern machines, tools and other products, so the number of metal cutting machines, their technological level to a large extent characterizes the production power of the country.

The main task of machine tool construction is to significantly increase the production of machine tools, increase the type, increase their quality and reliability.

However, an equally important task is to reduce the cost of machines and equipment, which can be obtained by modernizing the machine, simplifying its design, obtaining the parameters necessary for this type of production, which ultimately affects the cost of production.

In this course project, the issue of modernization of the speed box of the universal turning-screw machine model 16E20 is considered.
