The technology of machine-building production is a set of various technological processes - casting, forging, stamping, thermal treatment, painting, etc. The technology of mechanical engineering covers the final stages of machine-building production - the transformation of blanks into finished parts of assembly, i.e. the manufacture of machines.
The distinctive ability of modern mechanical engineering is a significant tightening of the operational properties of machines: speed, acceleration, temperature increase; decreased mass, volume, vibrations, mechanism actuation time, etc. The pace of such tightening is constantly increasing and machine builders are forced to solve design and technological tasks more quickly. In the context of market relations, the speed of implementation of decisions plays a dominant role.
Machine building technology allows to solve problems of machine manufacturing in accordance with the specified program of their output volume, providing the established quality indicators at optimal costs of live and animal labor. Production problems were closely linked to its economy.
The fundamentals of mechanical engineering technology traditionally include several important stages of technological process development. In any type of production, it is necessary to analyze the initial data and process control of the design documentation. The economic problems of modern production are one of the main tasks of selecting blanks and developing a route technological process. The completion of these steps strongly points to the centrality of machine building technology in machine building. Routing and operational technological processes determine the peculiarities of adjacent industries, the selection of equipment and the placement of orders for the creation of new equipment, a cutting tool, an accessory, measuring means and all production elements that form the production environment. The structures of production buildings, areas and features of the design of workshops and individual sections are also completely subordinate to the developed technological process.
The main types of production - mass, serial, single - have their own technological characteristics. The most common is the serial type of production, which includes a number of progressive technological processes. The group process and the advantage of using metal cutting machines with numerical program control allows you to realize the progressiveness of the process to the greatest extent.
The processing of blanks on aggregate machines and automatic lines is characteristic of mass production. Single production is characterized by a small volume of annual production of products, but can be progressive in the production of both heavy, unique products and small-weight manufactured machines.
A series of scientific provisions of mechanical engineering technology also covers the final stage of production - assembly. However, this stage has its own distinctive features. The property of the assembled parts, their characteristics, tolerances of size, shape and arrangement of surfaces according to certain laws interact in the assembled machine, determining its quality. The basis of mechanical engineering technology includes the development of the technological process of assembly and their automation. The main point is the establishment of connections of two stages - the manufacture of parts and their assembly.
