Description

The frame is the main unit of the car. All components of the machine are attached to it. The frame assembled with the suspension and bridges on the wheels constitutes the undercarriage of the car. Suspension includes springs, shock absorbers and rubber compression buffers. Consider the technology of repairing the chassis of a truck using the example of a KamAZ car.

The frame of the KamAZ car consists of two longitudinal beams of channel section, connected to each other by seven crossbars using rivets and called spars. Longitudinal beams and crossbars are made by stamping from strip low-alloy steel with thickness of 8 mm.

The frame may have the following defects: bending of longitudinal beams and crossbars, damage to brackets, weakening of rivet fit in holes, wear of rivet holes, cracks passing through rivet holes and in solid metal. Density of rivet joints is checked by clipping rivet heads with hammer. If the rivets have lost press fit, they move in the holes.

If it is impossible to eliminate the defect, the frame is married.

Bending of longitudinal beams is determined by curvature of upper shelf. It shall not exceed 2 mm at a length of 1000 mm and 5 mm at the entire length of the beam. Deflection of beams and crossbars is set by straightening without heating on press with the help of special device. Damaged brackets of the frame are replaced.

Cracks in longitudinal beams and crossbars are drilled at the ends with a drill with a diameter of 5 mm, cut and brewed. Welding is carried out with electrodes OZCH-6 or UONI 13/55 with diameter of 4 mm with direct current of 200 A. Welding seam and surface at a distance of 3-4 mm on both sides of it to increase the endurance limit of the connection are strengthened with an inclination. Gluing is carried out by pneumatic hammer. Rivets that have lost a press fit are cut or drilled and new ones are installed instead. New rivets are riveted with or without preheating. Machine riveting is performed without heating by hydraulic riveting units MAZ 62/350. The performance of such riveting is very high.
