Description
A mechanical seal is a device used to prevent leaks in shaft assemblies (e.g., pumps, compressors, etc.). It usually consists of two plates placed at the ends of the shaft and providing a hermetic connection between the rotating and fixed parts of the mechanism. There are many different mechanical seal designs, including mechanical, magnetic, hydrodynamic, etc. The quality and the right choice of mechanical seal play an important role in preventing leaks and improving the reliability of technical systems.
