Mechanical drive chain conveyor

Chain conveyors are designed for transportation of bulk and piece goods. The traction element is plate chains according to GOST 588 with a pitch of 63 ... 200 mm, the load-carrying element is decks, buckets, trays, shelves, etc. The use of chains as a traction element limits their speed (usually v < 1.0 m / s ), but allows you to have a large length of transportation with significant performance.

The main advantages of chain conveyors in comparison with belt conveyors are the ability to move hot (on apron, scraper conveyors), dusty (on scraper conveyors), bulky (on platter, bucket) cargoes at large angles of inclination of the route or in the vertical direction, as well as work in heavier conditions.

By type of working and load-bearing elements, chain conveyors are plate, scraper, cradle, shelf, bucket and overhead.

A feature of the operation of a chain conveyor is that when the traction element wraps around drive sprockets or blocks, its speed in the direction of movement does not remain constant at a constant angular velocity of the sprocket (or block). This is due to the fact that the chain link, when running on the drive element (sprocket, block), is located on it along the chord, and not along the circumference, as is the case with drums.

The uneven speed of the traction element causes the appearance of dynamic forces in it, which increase the force acting on the traction element and cause fatigue phenomena. Therefore, for a more accurate calculation and selection of the type of traction chains, it is necessary in some cases to take into account dynamic forces.
