Drawing SHCHOM-4M

The SHCHOM-4M crushed stone cleaning machine produced by Tulazheldormash CJSC was created on the basis of the two-section ELB-3M electric ballaster. The machine allows cleaning and cutting ballast over the entire width of the ballast prism. During continuous movement by a specially equipped diesel locomotive, crushed stone at the ends of the sleepers is cut out by two rotary devices 28 and supplied through a system of conveyors 27 to an additional centrifugal screen 3. Screen has closed mesh band through which cloggers are screened under action of centrifugal forces and thrown aside. The cleaned crushed stone can either be discharged through the metering device 26 into the formed trenches at the ends of the sleepers if the machine is operating in a ballast end cleaning scheme, or supplied to the system of longitudinal conveyors 6 and 7 and the rotary conveyor 10. When the rotary conveyor is in position along the machine, the crushed stone enters the metering device 15 and is discharged into the path. If desired, conveyor 10 may be rotated to unload the cut crushed stone into a rolling stock located in an adjacent path.
