Description
The object of the study is a continuous rectification unit for the separation of the toluene-octane mixture.
Type of Distillation Column – Packed
Unit capacity – 30900 kg/h
The concentration of LLC in the initial mixture is 38.4 % by weight
The concentration of LLLA in the distillate is 97.1% by weight
The concentration of LLC in the cubic residue is 3.4 % by weight
The heating steam pressure is 0.6 MPa.
Operating Pressure – Atmospheric
The temperature of the initial mixture is 20 °C
The purpose of the distillation column calculation is to determine the main column dimensions (diameter and height), material and thermal balances, the selection of additional equipment and the hydraulic calculation of the column.
Thus, the following issues are to be developed:
1. Description of the installation scheme, design of the devices;
2. Material, thermal calculations of the unit and apparatuses;
3. Structural and mechanical calculations of devices;
4. Safety measures;
5. Bibliography.
