Fire Protection Objects

Fire-retardant composition (substance) (OPS) is a composition, substance (mixture of substances) or material having the required fire-retardant efficiency and specially designed for fire-retardant treatment of various objects.

The object of fire protection is a material, substance, structure or article subjected to treatment of OPS in order to reduce their fire hazard or increase resistance to fire hazards.

Fire-retardant treatment - application of OSE on the surface (surface impregnation, painting, coating, etc.) and (or) introduction of fire-retardant into the object volume.

Fire-retardant coating is a layer obtained as a result of fire-retardant treatment on the surface of a fire-retardant object.

Fire-retardant efficiency is a qualitative or quantitative indicator that characterizes the property of OPS to reduce the fire hazard of fire-retardant objects to the required level according to the current regulatory documentation or to ensure the required regulatory resistance to fire hazards.

Fire protection of metal structures of transit air ducts is carried out in order to increase their fire resistance. The fire resistance index of the structure is the fire resistance limit.

Fire resistance of the structure - the ability of the structure to maintain load-bearing and (or) enclosing functions in a fire situation, paragraph 2.9 of ST CMEA 38387.

The fire resistance rating is the fire resistance index of the structure determined by the time from the start of the fire test at the standard temperature mode to the occurrence of one of the limit states rated for this structure according to the fire resistance of item 3.2 of CT CMEA 38387.

The rated limit state for fire resistance for duct ducts is the time (in minutes) of occurrence of one of the limit states (loss of integrity and loss of heat-insulating capacity) - EI 30, EI 45, EI 150 item 5.10 SNiP 210197 *.

The objects of fire protection accepted in the project are:

- transit sections of exhaust system air ducts serving the service rooms of the exhibition center building within the floor, laid open, from a fire-retarding valve to vertical sections of exhaust systems.

- transit vertical sections of exhaust systems, the fire resistance limit of which should be at least EI 30, laid in ventilation shafts together with other air ducts.

- horizontal sections of air ducts of emergency smoke ventilation systems.

- transit vertical sections of air ducts of smoke ventilation systems, the fire resistance limit of which should be at least EI 45, laid in ventilation shafts together with other air ducts.

Ducts of air ducts are made of galvanized steel with thickness = 1.0 mm .

Compositions, substances and materials for fire protection of materials, structures and articles.

Depending on the type of material of the object, fire protection systems are divided into those designed for:

- wood and wood-based materials;

- metal (including air ducts);

- fabrics, nonwoven materials and carpets;

- electric cable shells;

- polymeric and other materials.

Depending on the operating conditions, RAM are divided into the following:

- dry heated rooms;

- high humidity conditions;

- atmospheric conditions;

- special conditions.

According to the method of fire-retardant treatment, OPS are divided into:

impregnating compositions and flame retardants;

- coatings;

- combined.

UZSV by type of fire-retardant coating are divided into:

- paints and varnishes;

- coating;

- impregnating compositions and flame retardants .

Technical documentation according to item 4.2 of NPB 23697 shall contain the following indicators and characteristics of fire-retardant compositions:

fire-retardant efficiency group;

thickness for a certain fire-retardant group;

flow rate for a certain fire-retardant efficiency group;

appearance;

bulk mass;

warranty service life;

operating conditions (limit values of humidity, ambient temperature, etc.);

information on application technology: surface preparation methods, types and grades of soils, adhesion, number of layers, drying conditions;

warranty period and storage conditions of the composition;

possibility and periodicity of coating replacement or restoration depending on operating conditions.

Fire retardant selected in the project

Fire retardant for protection of air ducts shall correspond to:

1) according to the type of material of the object of fire protection - for air ducts;

2) under operating conditions - for dry heated rooms;

3) according to the processing method - combined;

4) by type of coating - to provide fire resistance EI 30 and EI 45 glue + basalt roll material.

Since the protected duct structures are located indoors, the coating must be highly efficient, durable and have the ability to periodically replace or restore it.

The listed above criteria for providing limits of fire resistance of EI 30 and EI 45 are answered by the complex system of fire protection of air ducts on production schedules No. 48588528B06 (EI 30) and No. 48588528B2005 (EI 45) in structure: material basalt fireproof rolled the MBOR5F brands foiled, made according to TU 57690034858852800 (thickness of 5 mm); adhesive construction mixture "Triumph," made according to TU 57720027238757104 (dry layer thickness at least: 0.4 mm for fire resistance limit EI 30; 0.6 mm for fire resistance EI 45). Developer of CJSC NPO Tizologne-Protection, Nizhnyaya Tura, Sverdlovsk Region, Russia.

Basalt fire-retardant material MBOR5 is not toxic (Sanitary and epidemiological report No. 66.01.10.576.P.000411.02.03 dated 07.02.2003)

The heat-resistant adhesive of the Triumph brand is non-toxic (Sanitary and epidemiological conclusion No. 66.01.10.570.P.000860.03.04 of 25.03.2004), designed to glue together various porous and non-porous materials (metals, bricks, wood, etc.). Glue seams are exposed to temperature up to 1000 C. Glue density is 150 kg/m3.

The basalt fire-retardant roll MBOR5F material is produced in accordance with the specification 57690034858852800 in the form of a canvas of basalt super-thin fibers sewn by a knitting-piercing method. The MBOR5F roll material is lined on one side with aluminum foil (MBOR5F designation)

After its installation on the air duct, the material does not require additional finishing; foil coating allows for wet cleaning.

Installation of complex fire protection shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of process regulation No. 48588528B06 (EI 30) and process regulation No. 48588528B2005 (EI 60).

Instructions for Work

Structural elements of air ducts to be fire-protected shall be thoroughly cleaned, provided and degreased. During fire-retardant works, direct ingress of drip moisture is not allowed, both on the air duct itself and on the materials used during installation. Installation works shall be carried out at ambient temperature not less than 0С and relative humidity not more than 90%. Measurement of temperature and humidity parameters shall be performed by portable humidity and temperature meter IVTM7.

Before use, the Triumph glue is thoroughly mixed manually or with a mixer nozzle using a drill for 5-7 minutes. This is due to the fact that a slight precipitate is allowed in the glue.

The opening of the basalt roll material of the required size is carried out on the construction site by hand with scissors or a knife. Measurements are made using a ruler or roulette.

Application of "Triumph" glue should be performed in rooms at positive temperature, protected against direct ingress of moisture, using air-free spraying units of Wagner7000, Graco-MARK-5 type or similar units, or manually with a brush or roller 0.4 mm thick. (EI 30) and 0.6 mm (EI 45)

After applying the "Triumph" glue, the surface of the duct is tightly wrapped with pre-cut foiled MBOR5F foil outside. The joints of the material are made overlapping 4550 mm (100 mm - EI 45) with mastic washing between the layers and are sealed with aluminum tape. The total drying time of the glue is 24 hours.

Quality control of complex fire protection installation is performed visually. Basalt roll material with significant mechanical damage shall not be used. The thickness of the Triumph mastic is determined by piercing it with a wire probe with a diameter of 1.52.0 mm, a caliper or a Minitest thickness meter with an F50 probe. After gluing the basalt roll material, it is not allowed to sag, or peel from the surface of the duct.
