Coursework in the discipline "Design and calculation of cars" sets the following goals for the student:
-consolidate the acquired knowledge in the basics of design calculation and the theory of working processes of the car;
-gain skills in performing power calculation and determining the speed characteristics of the car
-be able to determine the design parameters and calculate the main functional elements of the car.
The main task of the coursework is the ability to make a design analysis of the car, namely:
- choose a prototype of the PBX;
- work out the technical characteristics and layout of the car;
- calculate the individual parameters of the engine and transmission;
- calculate traction and speed characteristics;
- determine the parameters of the operational properties of the car.
In accordance with the initial data, the calculation and selection of the design of the car begin with the definition of its wheel formula, layout scheme and prototype, geometric and mass characteristics.
The initial data for the calculation of the PBX design are given in Table 1.1:
