Part Design and Utility Description

Bevel gears serve to transfer rotational motion between mutually perpendicular shafts. Gears are used both for transmitting large torques with a given change in shaft speed and for accurate mutual orientation of shafts. The teeth of the wheels must be quite strong, wear resistant, ensure smoothness and noiselessness of the transmission, high transmission efficiency. Actuating surfaces of gear wheel are side surfaces of teeth providing transmission of torque from one wheel to another.

The main design bases of the gear wheel are the base hole, the left end and splines in the hole, along which the gear wheel is installed on the shaft.

Part fabrication specification analysis

Hardness HB 340... 380 is achieved by quenching at temperature t = 880900 ° and subsequent tempering, therefore, a thermal operation is required.

The workpiece is stamped.
