Contaminants are retained on the surface of the sand particles, and the purified water goes to the final filtration. When the filter is contaminated, it is washed with a reverse stream of water. The filter sections are washed alternately. Water filtered by another section is supplied for washing of each section. Each filter section can be operated individually or in parallel, so that the washing of the filter can be carried out with the watering on.
