Steam boilers, in addition to pre-treatment of water at water treatment plants, need to remove minor residual contaminants from the water and maintain a certain water-chemical regime by dosing a small amount of appropriate reagents into the water, bringing the water quality in line with the standardized indicators.
Corrective methods of water treatment include phosphating, amination, nitrate, sulfitation, triloning, silication, etc.
