Introduction
The importance of foundry in the national economy is extremely great; almost all machines and instruments have foundry parts.
Casting is one of the oldest methods that was used in ancient times for the production of metal products: in the beginning from copper and bronze and then from cast iron, and later from steel and other alloys.
In 1868, for the first time at the Maltsevsky factories there were steel shaped castings.
The main processes of foundry production are: metal smelting, mold making, metal pouring and cooling, knocking out, cleaning, casting cutting, heat treatment and quality control of processing.
The main method of making castings is sand casting, in which about 80% of castings are obtained. However, the accuracy and roughness of the surface of castings obtained in sandy forms in many cases do not meet the requirements of modern mechanical engineering.
Foundry production allows to obtain blanks of complex configuration with minimum allowance for cutting and with good mechanical properties. The manufacturing process is mechanized and automated, which reduces the cost of cast blanks. The achievements of modern science in many cases make it possible to radically change the technological process, dramatically increase the new high-performance machines and machines. Which ultimately helps to improve product quality and production efficiency.
