1.5 Diagram of t-x-y binary mixture

This diagram is a combined graph of the liquid boiling point versus composition and saturated vapour temperature versus composition. For its construction data of equilibrium compositions of steam and liquid phases are used (Table 1.1). First, the points corresponding to the boiling points of the liquid and its equilibrium concentrations X. A smooth line is drawn through the points found, which is called the boiling line of the liquid (Fig.1.2). Then points corresponding to boiling points and equilibrium compositions of steam Y * are applied to the same diagram. The obtained points are also connected by a smooth line, which is called the saturation (or condensation) line of Fig.1.2.

The t-x-y diagram is the basis for the technological calculation of the processes of separation of liquid mixtures by rectification, since using it, using the known values ​ ​ of vapour and liquid compositions, local temperatures are determined at any point of the apparatus, and the opposite problem is solved.

Conclusion

A material and thermal calculation of the continuous distillation column was carried out. The diameter of the shell is 600 mm, the approximate height of the column is 7.5 m, the type of the column is packed, the type of the nozzle is Rashig rings with a diameter of 35mm, the height of the nozzle layer is 2.58m.

The insulation of the column was calculated, its thickness is 23 mm (sovelite was chosen as the insulation), and a hydraulic calculation of the column was also made.

The rectification column is installed on the CW type support as per MN 513163.

Process control is performed by resistance thermometers, pressure gauges and flow meters.
