Design Section

Purpose and application of the developed design of the accessory

Designed accessory is intended for control of compressed air pressure in tyres without opening of valves. The measurement method is relative, in terms of the deflection of the tyre at the point of measurement when a load of 25 kg is applied.

Description of the device and operation of the structure

The main element of the accessory is the housing (1). Spring (7), measuring rod (2), adjusting washer (4) and base (5) are installed inside housing (1). Housing (1) has engraving indicating value of pressure in tyres (kgf/sq cm). Measuring rod (2) is connected to rod (3) and handle (6) by means of threaded connection.

The operation of the accessory is as follows:

device is initially adjusted by reference tyre with preset pressure. For this purpose, spring elasticity (7) is selected, at which, when a load of 25 kg is applied on the side tire, the measuring rod (2) with its groove drops to division 8 on the housing (1). Selection of elasticity is performed by selection of adjusting washers (4). Increasing the thickness of the washer (4) enhances the resilience of the spring (7) and vice versa. After checking deflection along the reference tyre, the pressure inside it is lowered by half and the operation of the accessory is checked (the bore of the measuring rod must be lowered to division 4). For clarity, the groove is painted in a bright color.

Deflection is measured on the weakest section of the tire - this is, as a rule, the side of the tire.

Calibration is performed at least 1 times a year.
