Description
VB-14 power circuit protection device of ED-4M electric train. The fast-acting switch is designed to protect the electric equipment of the electric train from short-circuit currents and overloads. The switch's own response time is several milliseconds, so when it is turned off, the short-circuit current does not have time to reach the maximum and is limited to a value that is not dangerous for electrical equipment. Electric arc, which occurs at opening of main contacts of VB-14 switch, is extinguished in arc extinguishing chambers.
