Description
The objective of this project is to develop a complete set of design documentation for a desktop CNC vertical milling machine equipped with an automatic tool change system, characterized by increased structural rigidity, easy manufacturing, and based on readily available industrial components. To achieve this goal, a series of sequential engineering tasks must be solved. These include: analyzing existing layouts and justifying the selection of an optimal one; designing the machine's support system, including the bed and vertical column; developing a kinematic diagram and linear drives for three coordinate axes; performing the necessary strength and kinematic calculations to select standard components, such as ball screws and guide rails; designing a unique carousel-type automatic tool change mechanism; and finally, integrating all developed components into a single, balanced design.
The object of this project is a three-axis vertical milling machine with a working field sufficient for most prototyping and small-scale production tasks. The design concept of the Soviet 2M112 bench-top drilling machine was adopted as the conceptual basis for the layout of the supporting system.
