Introduction

A reduction gear is a mechanism consisting of gear or worm gears, made in the form of a separate unit and serving to transfer rotation from the engine shaft to the shaft of the working machine.

The reduction gear consists of a housing (cast iron or welded steel) in which the transmission elements are located - gears, shafts, bearings, etc.

Design the welder turntable drive of Fig.1 consisting of worm gear box and open transmission with the following design data:

- power on output shaft Pinl = 1.8 kW;

- angular velocity at output Wiv = 0.35 s-1;

- service life Lh = 3000 h;

is the number of shifts 2.

9. Lubricant

9.1 Lubrication of engagement is performed by dipping of gear wheel

into oil poured inside the housing up to the level providing

immersion of the wheel by 10 sound15mm.

At speed in engagement V = 4.5m/s the recommended oil viscosity

(letter 1, p. 164, tab. 8.8)

According to Table 8.10 (lit.1, p.165) industrial oil I100A is selected

GOST 2079975.

9.2 Lubricate bearings with plastic grease, which we put into bearing chambers during assembly. Lubricant grade - UT1.

10 Gearbox Assembly Description

Bearings are put on worm and inserted into housing. A key is inserted into the shaft of the worm wheel and the wheel is pressed; then spacer rings are put on and bearings are pressed. Assembled shaft is laid in reduction gear box housing and reduction gear box cover is put on. Collars are put into bearing covers and covers with gaskets are installed. Adjustment of bearings and worm engagement is performed by set of gaskets under covers. The assembled gearbox is rolled and tested on the bench.
