Use of a jet device for the extraction of annulus gas in oil wells equipped with electric submersible pump (ESP) systems

Description

In Russia, nearly 80% of all oil is currently produced using electric submersible pump (ESP) systems. This situation is driven by shifting operating conditions at major Russian oil fields—changes stemming from both the evolving composition of liquid hydrocarbon reserves and the intensification of oil production.

At high flow rates, ESP systems are more energy-efficient—requiring less energy per ton of extracted fluid—than sucker-rod pump systems. Nevertheless, various factors hinder the optimal operation of wells equipped with ESPs.

A multitude of factors affect the performance of ESP systems, ranging from well design and downhole processes to conditions within the reservoir itself. Such complications lead to a sharp decline in the efficiency of ESP installations. This final qualifying work (thesis) is dedicated to addressing this issue.
