This boiler automation project contains detailed drawings of thermal control and protection of steam boiler E1/9 operating on diesel fuel.
5.1. Thermal Mechanical Control
Thermal and mechanical monitoring devices are adopted in accordance with the following principles:
a) Parameters, which are necessary for proper operation of the process and pre-start operations, shall be measured by indicating instruments;
b) parameters, change of which can lead to equipment emergency condition, are monitored by signalling devices.
For boilers the following indicating instruments are provided:
- fuel pressure in the reverse line of the burner;
- steam pressure in the boiler (complete with the boiler);
- temperature and pressure of feedwater at the boiler inlet;
- water level in the boiler upper drum;
- discharges in boiler furnace;
- temperature and composition of combustion products (for adjustment).
5.2. Process Protection and Alarm
The E1/9 boiler provides automatic safety to cut off the fuel supply to the boilers when the following limit parameters are reached:
- Steam pressure increase in the boiler max 8 kgf/cm2
- Burner flare failure
- Decrease of discharge in boiler furnace max -5 Pa
- Level deviation in the upper drum of the NPL boiler

- Room gas content of boiler room with carbon monoxide 100 mg/m3
- Faults of protection circuits, including voltage loss
Gas cut-off is accompanied by sound and light alarm on the boiler automation board.
Limit values of parameter cutoff shall be specified during commissioning by a specialized organization licensed for this type of work.
5.3. Power supply
Automatic power supply is carried out from the distribution power system ~ 220/380 V .
