Description
Device for tightening and selection of loose rigging, cables, etc. It usually consists of two screws with opposite threads, screwed into a special ring with two threaded holes. The ends of the screws are made with an eye or hook to which the cable is attached. The tension is controlled by the rotation of the ring, so that the screws are shifted to the center. Talreps are used in cases where a very high tensioning force is required and can vary in weight from several grams (for tensioning, for example, curtain strings - a tensioning force of several kilograms) to tens of tons - such devices are used in the construction of buildings and bridges.
