Description
The development of underwater trenches by self-propelled scrapers is widespread in practice. The simplicity of the method and the lack of mobility of equipment for underwater work in some cases leads to the widespread use of rope-scraper installations.
Rope-scraper installations are used:
− with a small amount of work up to 10 thousand m3, when it is impractical to use other dredgers;
− when developing a trench in pre-loosened soils;
− at a depth of the underwater trench up to 3 m;
− at a current speed of less than 0.7 m/s on rivers whose bottom and banks are composed of fine-grained and medium-grained sands;
− with an average development range of up to 150 m.
