Radiator Test and Repair Bench

A bench is designed for repair and inspection of car radiators. Device for fixation of radiators is pneumatic, lift is equipped with manipulator. The radiators are checked by compressed air at 1.0 kgf/sq cm. Stand consists of base 8, bath 7, manipulator 5, pneumatic cylinder 4, clamp 6, control panel 1, air supply plug 3, pistol 2 for blowing dirt and water from surface of radiator, retainer and rotary device. The control panel has connector for compressed air supply from STO air line. Bath 7 has drain valve for water discharge. Manipulator 5 is installed on post. The radiator to be tested can be fixed in 16 positions as it rotates about a horizontal axis. A reduction valve is installed on the control panel, reducing the pressure of air going to the radiator to 1.0 kgf/sq. On the panel there is a retainer, which serves to prevent spontaneous rotation of the manipulator around the vertical axis. The bench is equipped with conical plugs for blanking of radiators neck during their tightness check. The radiator to be checked is fixed by means of a pressure screw. To check the radiator, lift it with the help of a pneumatic cylinder to the extreme upper position. Then the retainer is released, the radiator is rotated so that it is above the water bath, and then the manipulator must be fixed again. Air supply hose is connected to one of radiator branch pipes, and other holes are plugged with plugs. The radiator is then lowered into the bath. Air is supplied by means of the crane and the radiator is checked for leakage of tubes and connection places. After detection of defect, radiator is lifted from bath. By rotating the radiator around the horizontal axis, it is fixed in a convenient position for operation and begins to repair damaged places. After eliminating all defects, the radiator is re-checked in the bath.
