Assigning a Part to a Subassembly
The pinion shaft is used as a high-speed shaft in cylindrical gear reducers. It rotates in the gearbox housing installed on two bearings. During operation, the part is subjected to a bending moment, which appears due to the shape of the teeth, the torque transmitted by the gear shaft from the engine to the wheel. In addition, the teeth are subject to friction in the engagement zone. A feature of this part is the alignment of the shaft and gear, which reduces the range of components, increases the bearing capacity of the shaft-gear connection, and makes the unit more compact.
Cylindrical gear reducers are used to convert the engine torque and speed to the values required by the working elements of the machines. During operation, the resistance to movement of the working element changes, which leads to fluctuations in loads on the whole reduction gear in general and on its elements in particular. In addition, during launches, braking, jerks occur, which are also transmitted to the elements of the reduction gear box.
Selection and justification of procurement method
Considering the most common options for obtaining a blank, I came to the conclusion that the most suitable for my task is a blank obtained from stamping in a closed die on a crank hot stamping press.
Selection of process bases
A process base is a base used to determine the position of a workpiece or article in its manufacture or assembly.
Selection of process bases is one of the complex tasks of process design. The right choice of technological bases largely depends on:
- accuracy of obtaining the specified dimensions;
- correctness of mutual arrangement of surfaces;
- degree of complexity of technological equipment, cutting and measuring tools.
