The project was developed for the construction of a residential building in Marx with calculated outdoor air parameters:
- for the design of heating in the cold period of the year - minus 28 ° С, j = 82 % -
- average temperature of heating period - minus 5.1 ° С -

Introduction
Substantiation of the choice of the design of chimneys and plenum air ducts from gas heat generators with a closed combustion chamber in a five-story residential building with apartment heating systems and built-in public premises located on the others. Builders in the city of Marx, Saratov region:
based on SNiP 41012003 and SNiP 31012003;
taking into account the analysis and generalization of the results of the application of apartment heat supply systems from gas heat generators in residential buildings of various storeys in various regions of Russia, as well as foreign experience.

Substantiation of the design selection of chimneys and plenum ducts (calculation) was made on the basis of the submitted documents:
architectural and construction drawings of the working design of a residential building located according to Ave. Builders in the city of Marx, Saratov Region, represented by Remstroyproekt LLC.

Calculation of chimneys and plenum ducts from gas-fired heat generators
The removal of combustion products into the atmosphere from gas heat generators of apartments and built-in public premises is provided for by common vertical chimneys (hereinafter referred to as chimneys). Air supply for gas combustion to heat generators is provided by common supply air ducts. The diagram of heat generators connection to common plenum air ducts is similar to the diagram of their connection to chimneys.
Chimneys are provided with round stainless steel add-ons in silicate brick boxes. When laying chimneys, they are protected by insulation from "URSA."
There are four options for connecting heat generators to chimneys, for which a calculation is made.
Four heat generators (from the 2nd to the 5th) of the building are simultaneously connected to each chimney.
All heat generators from the second to fifth floors of the residential building are installed in the kitchens of apartments.
The brand of first-floor heat generators: "Vaillant" "turboMax plus VUW2825."
Design of chimneys and plenum ducts for heat generators
1 The design of chimneys and plenum ducts for heat generators shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the current regulatory documentation and these recommendations.
When selecting the steel grade for chimneys and protecting their surface from corrosion, the requirements of SNiP 2.03.1185 (item 5.27) and GOST 563272 should be followed.
2 The arrangement of chimneys and plenum ducts shall be made based on the convenience of their installation and operation.
3 At the mouths of vertical chimneys it is permitted to provide devices preventing ingress of foreign objects into them.
Devices shall not reduce thrust in chimneys.
The minimum living section of the combustion product outlet device shall be at least twice the outlet section (mouth) of the chimney.
4 Air intake holes of air ducts shall have devices that prevent ingress of foreign objects into them, but do not interfere with the calculated air intake.
5 Pockets with hatches shall be provided in the lower part of vertical chimneys and plenum ducts for their cleaning. Hatches shall be sealed with metal doors or removable metal plugs.
6 Units of butt joints of chimneys shall be located outside the slab (coating) structure at distances ensuring the convenience of their installation, maintenance and repair. Joints of chimneys and places of their support must be gas-tight and have devices that prevent displacement of sections relative to each other.
7 Structures for closing holes in places of chimney passages through the slabs (coating) of a residential building shall ensure the stability of chimneys and the possibility of their displacement caused by temperature influences, as well as their protection from damage by crossed structures and taking into account the requirements of SNiP 41012003 (section 6.6).
8 Laying of smoke ducts shall be provided with a slope of not less than 10 ‰ from the heat generator.
9 Places of connection of chimney leads of heat generators to the vertical chimney shall be gas-tight in order to prevent leaks of combustion products in case of backpressure or suction of air in chimneys that reduces rarefaction.
The design of the chimney connection unit shall ensure its integrity during movements caused by temperature effects.
10 It is prohibited to lay chimneys and add-on chimneys through residential premises.
11 Heat generator connection units to the chimney and supply air duct shall be provided in the room where the heat generator is installed. Arrangement of flaps on the heat generator smoke outlet is not allowed.
12 The distance from smoke outlets to structures (ceiling or wall) made of non-combustible materials should be taken to be at least 5 cm. When finishing building structures with combustible materials, the distance from smoke outlets to these structures should be taken to be at least 25 cm.
13 The height of the chimneys should be checked according to the conditions of dispersion of harmful substances in the atmosphere.
