Purpose and arrangement of the accessory
My choice for the EMU200 Universal Turning and Screw Machine is the caliper.
The caliper is responsible for mounting the cutter. It is designed to move the cutting tool, which is located in the cutter holder, when processing the workpiece in several planes.
Components of the caliper: transverse guide 5, transverse slide of caliper 4, upper slide of caliper 1, flywheels with fission school 12, cutter holder 8, cutting tool 16, displacement handles 6.7 and fastening elements.
Each of the elements performs its function ensuring the common operability of the mechanism.
Cutter head (8) (cutter holder) is fixed on upper slides (1) by means of special bolts and handle (2). Movement from the caliper drive is transmitted via the lead screw to the drive shaft, which is located under this screw. This can be done either automatically or manually.
Principle of operation of the accessory
The caliper of the turning-screw machine has lower slides (carriage) 3, which can be moved during operation along the bed guides to get close to the blank. Movement of handle (7) is controlled. By moving along the sled, longitudinal movement along the workpiece is ensured.
On the same slides, the transverse caliper 4 of the EMU200 lathe moves, which carries out transverse movements along its guides 5. Thus, all of this encompasses an area of movement that lies perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the workpiece.
On the cross slides 4 there is a rotary plate, which is attached to it with a special nut. Guides are installed on rotary plate along which upper slides 1 run. Upper slides are controlled by rotary handle 6. Upper slides 1 turn in horizontal plane simultaneously with plate. It is this assembly that allows the cutter 16 to move at an angle to the axis of rotation of the part.
