The mode of operation of the electric power system can be steady-state and transient. Transient modes of operation arise in the system when the conditions of its operation change, which occur both during normal operation (switching on and off individual elements of the circuit) and in emergency situations (short circuit, wire breaks, short circuit of phase wires to ground, etc.)

Short circuits, broken wires and short circuits "to the ground" are the most common cause of transients and the most dangerous types of damage that can cause deterioration in the quality of electricity, damage to equipment, disruption of system equipment.

The purpose of the CR is to gain skills in calculating electrical quantities during the emergency mode process in the system according to the task.

The calculation of electrical quantities during the electromagnetic transient process is necessary for the subsequent development of measures to ensure reliable operation and protection of individual elements and the system as a whole.
