Description
The n-xylene oxidation reactor (Figure 1.3) is a vertical cylindrical vessel equipped with a stirrer, a heating jacket and nozzles for the input and output of reagents. The agitator is necessary for:
- rapid distribution of the gas phase in the reaction medium, contributing to an increase in the contact surface of the gas-liquid phases and the transition of oxygen to a liquid medium containing a catalyst and oxidizable reagents;
- reducing the duration of homogenization of reactants in the reaction medium; equalization of the temperature of the reaction mixture throughout the reactor volume;
- weighing of crystalline reaction products.
