Description
The verglug, being the upper support for the drilling tool, is designed to supply drilling fluid to the rotating drill string. During drilling, the swivel is suspended from the automatic elevator or from the hook of the shaft mechanism and is connected by means of a flexible hose to the riser of the pressure pipeline of the drilling pumps. Note here that drill string drive pipe is connected by thread with rotary swivel bore provided with drilling fluid bore. During lowering and lifting operations, the swivel with the leading pipe and flexible hose is retracted into the bore hole and disconnected from the travel unit. When drilling with downhole engines, the swivel is used to periodically turn the drill string to prevent tacks.
In this work, calculation and modernization of the swivel is carried out

Introduction
The verglug, being the upper support for the drilling tool, is designed to supply drilling fluid to the rotating drill string. During drilling, the swivel is suspended from the automatic elevator or from the hook of the shaft mechanism and is connected by means of a flexible hose to the riser of the pressure pipeline of the drilling pumps. Note here that drill string drive pipe is connected by thread with rotary swivel bore provided with drilling fluid bore. During descending operations, the swivel with the drive pipe and flexible hose is retracted into the bore hole and disconnected from the travel unit. When drilling with downhole engines, the swivel is used to periodically turn the drill string to prevent tacks.
During operation, the swivel experiences static axial loads due to the weight of the drill string and dynamic loads created by longitudinal oscillations of the bit and pulsation of the washing liquid. Swivel parts in contact with solution are subjected to abrasive wear. The wear resistance of the rubbing parts of the swivel is reduced as a result of friction heating.
The main requirements for swivels are as follows:
The transverse dimensions shall not prevent its free movement along the tower when the drill string is being built up and lowered; Quick-wear units and parts should be convenient for rapid replacement under field conditions;
oil supply and distribution shall ensure efficient lubrication and cooling of friction parts of the swivel;
device for connection to the head block should be reliable and convenient for quick retraction and removal of the swivel from the hole.
