Introduction

Construction gypsum is used for the production of gypsum and gypsum concrete construction products used for the interior of buildings (dry plaster, partition plates and panels, and several others), as well as for the production of lime-gypsum plaster solutions for the interior walls of buildings.

Construction gypsum is used for the manufacture of artificial marble and the production of some paints and shallows, as well as for fixing glass products during their polishing, for example, in the production of mirror and optical glass. In admixture with asbestos and other materials, gypsum is included in heat insulation compositions.

Construction gypsum is used for plaster and without lime additives, but then retardants must be introduced.

Building gypsum is an air binder. It cannot be used for structures located in water, since it dissolves the double-water gypsum formed during hardening and breaks down the crystalline sprout. Upon subsequent drying of the gypsum, its strength is restored again. The reason for the low water resistance of gypsum products is also the adhesive effect of water films that separate individual elements of the crystalline structure of the solidified gypsum. Gypsum products protected from precipitation and damp are durable. A mixture of dextrin and soluble glass may be added to the gypsum for strength and water resistance. The water resistance of gypsum is positively affected by the addition of ground granulated blast furnace slag, lime, a mixture of lime or cement with hydraulic additives, clay and other materials. Increases water resistance and introduction of organosilicon compounds into gypsum powder or impregnation of gypsum articles.

The course project was developed for a gypsum plant in the city of Petropavlovsk, with a capacity of 4,000,000 tons per year.

Building gypsum is one of the most popular artificial building materials. The technology of its manufacture has practically not changed, but today construction gypsum is used for plaster work, the manufacture of gypsum concrete.

The raw material for producing building gypsum is natural gypsum, or, as it is often called, alabaster stone. The main advantage of building gypsum is its ability to solidify instantly. The mixture begins to set after four minutes after application, and after half an hour it hardens completely. The main disadvantages of construction gypsum are its low strength and insufficient water resistance. Besides, it can only get damaged by one scratch. There are twelve brands of building gypsum that are sold in bags. Storage of gypsum necessarily requires a dry room, otherwise it can be drained and will not be grasped when used.
