Description
Decomposer (from French. décomposer - dissolve, crush) apparatus for decomposing aluminate solutions in order to isolate crystalline aluminum hydroxide. The D is provided with a mechanical or air mixing device. Mechanically agitated D. is a steel tank with a height and diameter of 8 m, inside which a chain stirrer rotates at a low speed to keep the seed particles suspended. D. with air stirring, the total height of which is about 30 m, diameter 8 m, a useful capacity of more than 1000 m3, became widespread. The mixing device consists of two vertical pipes along the axis D. The inner pipe, through which compressed air is supplied at a pressure of 0.5 Mn/m2, is 300 mm shorter than the outer pipe. Air, mixed with the solution, forms an air-pulp mixture with a lower volume mass than Pulp. Rising through the annulus, this mixture captivates the neighboring layers of pulp, mixes with it and creates a continuous movement of pulp from bottom to top. D. are connected in series (10-15 devices), forming threads. Aluminate solution and seed are continuously supplied to head legs of each thread, and finished hydrate pulp is continuously taken from tail legs.
