Introduction
Bulldozers are designed for the development and movement of soil over short distances (up to 150 meters) during the construction of embankments, the development of excavations, preparatory work, backfilling of trenches and other works.
Bulldozers belong to cyclic vehicles and are an earth-moving vehicle in the form of a tracked or wheeled tractor with a working member hung on it - a dump. The working cycle of the bulldozer consists of soil digging operations, movement of the drawing prism, unloading and idling (Fig. 1). Soil digging is carried out by straight, wedge or comb chips of maximum thickness with I-th gear turned on. In course work, soil digging is carried out by direct chips, the thickness of the chips is selected based on the traction capabilities of the bulldozer.
Bulldozer workflow. Source Data
The movement of soil to the place of laying is possible in two different ways: trench and trenchless. In the trench method, soil moves between rollers from previously drained soil drawing from the prism or into a trench in the mainland soil, in this case there is practically no loss of moved soil in the side rollers . With a trenchless method for replenishing soil losses from the drawing prism, movement is carried out with additional soil clipping. In course work, it is necessary to select the speed of the bulldozer, based on the following assumptions :
- work in a trenchless way with soil clipping is carried out on the 1st gear;
- trench operation is possible on various transmissions:
if the bulldozer operates on a horizontal section, then the II gear is selected, if the slope is 3° or more, the III gear is turned on, and when working on a lift of 3° or more, the I gear .
Return of the bulldozer back (idling) with the length of the work area of 50 meters or less is carried out backwards with the III gear turned on. If the length of the section exceeds 50 meters, the bulldozer unfolds and returns back to the IIth forward gear.
