Description

An air cooler is a heat exchanger in which the refrigerant boils due to the supply of heat by air.

Air coolers are surface (dry), contact (wet) and combined. In the first, the air is cooled, giving heat to the working fluid through the pipe wall, secondly, heat is transferred by direct contact with the cold surface of the coolant, and thirdly, the air is cooled due to contact with the cold surface of the coil and with the surface of the coolant.

Air is pumped through the air cooler by axial or centrifugal fans. If the fan should provide only air circulation only through the air cooler, axial fans are used, creating small heads, in the presence of air ducts, filters and other resistances, centrifugal fans are used.
