Introduction

Steam compressor chillers (PCCMs) are the most common type of chiller. They are used to obtain artificial cold of moderate temperatures and are widely used in various areas of the national economy. Single-stage PCCMs form the simplest group of refrigerators of this type. They are used in industry, agriculture, trade, everyday life, etc. The use of single stage PCCMs is energetically advantageous and practically justified to provide and maintain refrigerant boiling points in the range from positive temperatures to 3040 degrees. At the same time, the cooling capacity of PCCM covers a range from several hundred watts to several thousand kilowatts.

To compress the working substance, various types of compressors are used in PCCM: piston, rotary, screw, centrifugal and axial. PCCM also includes various types of main heat exchange and auxiliary equipment. The quality of the thermal calculation and the selection of the main elements significantly determines the reliability, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the PCCM and the refrigeration plant as a whole.

The purpose of the course work is to provide students with knowledge about the device and principles of operation of single-stage PCCMs, and to develop the ability to perform thermal calculations and selection of main and auxiliary equipment, considered refrigerating compression machines and plants.
