ASSIGNMENT FOR A COURSE PROJECT
Calculate a shell-and-tube heat exchanger for cooling 500m3/h (under normal conditions) of natural gas from t1n. = 44°C to t1k =12°C.
Composition of natural gas (under normal conditions):
| Component | Volume, m3 | Volumetric composition, % |
| Methane (CH4) | 471,9 | 94,38 |
| Ethane (C2H6) | 20 | 4,0 |
| Bhutan (C4H10) | 5,5 | 1,1 |
| Propane (C3H8) | 2,6 | 0,52 |
| Total: | 500,0 | 100,0 |
Natural gas pressure rabs = 24 atm. The refrigerant is the same gas under the same pressure, but with a temperature varying from -35 to +19°C.
