Pistol Colt M1911A1

The Colt M1911A1 is made exactly to the original drawings, so all dimensions are in inches, not millimeters. Also in this work, the system of tolerances and fits is interesting, since deviations are not set from the nominal size. In the drawings, either the lower dimension is set with a deviation only upwards, or the upper one with a deviation only downwards.

Parts missing in the drawings (Loop, Lanyard, Pin, Magazine) were modeled based on the drawings of the Rio Benson - M1911A1 Redux, as well as the author's own idea. The result is an accurate model of every part of the gun, consisting of only 57 parts (including magazine components, excluding cartridges). At the end of the work, a number of photorealistic images were created: a general view of the pistol, a section to demonstrate the internal structure, a pistol with transparency on some details, and a pistol in a 3D scene. Additionally, an explosion diagram was prepared.

When modeling, I used the Loft tool extensively using guides and the Sweep tool to create smooth outer surfaces of the pistol, as well as the top of the magazine.

The magazine model is parametric and accurately calculated, it is possible to change the number of cartridges in the magazine.

The work was completed in one month in order to explore the capabilities of T-FLEX CAD when building complex models and assemblies.

The project took 3rd place in the "CAD Competence 2022" competition in the "Pass" nomination.
