Description

RHYTHM-200 is a water-fired nuclear reactor developed at the I.I. Afrikantov OKBM. Designed for installation on icebreakers and promising floating nuclear power plants. [1] [2] Manufacturer ZiO-Podolsk. In June 2016, the first power plant with two reactors for the head icebreaker LK-60Ya (project 22220) was delivered to the icebreaker's construction site. [3] It is also planned to build small-capacity nuclear power plants based on the RHYTHM-200 reactor. In 2018, OKBM named after I.I. Afrikantov and the State Specialized Design Institute (GSPI, part of Rosatom Group of Companies) developed a project for a two-unit NPP with RHYTHM-200 reactors. It is approved, now options for the construction of low-capacity nuclear power plants are being considered (at the moment it is Chukotka, Chelyabinsk region, as well as exports to Latin America and Africa) The RHYTHM-200 reactor plant is made according to a two-circuit scheme. A distinctive feature of the reactor is 4 steam generators integrated into the core housing. Traditionally, steam generators are made in a separate housing connected to the core housing by primary coolant pipelines. The integrated layout reduces the material capacity and dimensions of the plant, reduces the risk of leaks from the reactor primary circuit, and facilitates the installation and dismantling of the plant. 4 main circulation pumps are located around the reactor vessel. [1] The reactor will have a thermal capacity of 175 MW, providing power on the shaft of the propulsion system 30 MW (in the transport version) or 55 MW electric (in the energy version). In order to comply with the principle of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, uranium enrichment is limited to 20%. Fuel resetting from 7 to 10 years, with the planned service life of 40 years [4]. Belongs to the 4th generation of civil ship class reactor plants. Unlike the 3rd generation (KLT-40C family), the transition from a block layout to an integral one was made. In complex with applied solutions, 2-fold mass (3800 t → 2200 t) and dimensional perfection (12 × 17.2 × 12 → 6 × 13.2 × 15.5) are achieved. Continuous operation period - 26,000 hours. The period between reboots is up to 10 years. The assigned service life - non-replaceable equipment - 40 years, replaced equipment - 20 years. Assigned resource - non-replaceable equipment - 320,000 hours, replaced equipment - 160,000 hours. Fuel enrichment - not more than 20%. The installed capacity utilization factor is 0.65. Primary circuit operating pressure, MPa - 15.7; Primary circuit temperature - 277 to inlet, 313 to outlet; Primary coolant flow through EP (core), 3250 tons per hour; Steam capacity - 248 tons per hour (295 C °, 3.82 MPa) Dimensions for two switchgears (reactor plant) within the containment - 6 * 13.2 * 15.5 meters. The physical size is 6 × 6 meters with a total weight of about 1000 tons. Integrated PGB housing (steam generating unit), which made it possible to significantly reduce the weight and dimensions of the switchgear within the containment. Low-enriched cassette core, similar in design to the core of the KLT-40S reactor RP PATES, providing high long-term operation without recharging and meeting non-proliferation requirements. Increased service life and service life of the main equipment until factory repair. Increased time reserves for emergency decision-making .
