Description
Fuel element (TVEL) is the main structural element of the core of a heterogeneous nuclear reactor containing nuclear fuel. This type of fuel elements is used in the core of the BN-600 reactor.
In fuel elements, heavy nuclei U235 or Pu239 are divided, accompanied by the release of thermal energy, which is then transferred to the coolant. TVEL shall provide heat removal from fuel to coolant and prevent propagation of radioactive products from fuel to coolant.
