Introduction

The entire wood harvesting process is a labour-intensive and unsafe operation, so modern timber harvesting involves the use of various types of equipment. Now mechanized procurement prevails with the involvement of motor tools (light gasoline-powered saws), truck-cutting, splitting and multi-operation machines.

The application of this technique allows not only mechanization, but also machining and partial automation of logging processes and the elimination of manual labor in many operations. The intensive development of the logging industry has significantly changed the technology and technique of logging and reforestation. The environmental aspects of logging, environmental protection, conservation of forest resources and energy resources are becoming increasingly important. In this regard, the introduction into production of resource-efficient environmentally sound technologies and logging equipment that meets forest and environmental requirements is of great importance. For the effective application of these technologies and technologies in specific production and climatic conditions, future specialists must know them well and be able to apply them .

Forest industry should provide a scientifically sound approach to the sound and integrated use of wood raw materials and the sustainable reproduction of forests for the benefit of society.

1.1. Classification of chopping machines

Chopping machines for the production of process chips are divided into the following groups:

a) Depending on the type of working element (cutting mechanism):

- Disk chopping machines, the working element of which is made in the form of a flat or profile (helicoidal) disk with knives on it;

- drum chopping machines, the working element of which is made in the form of a drum with knives on the external surface:

- machines with a working element in the form of a cylinder;

- machines with working element in the form of cone;

- machines with a working element in the form of two cones located on the same axis and connected to each other by vertices;

b) Mobility:

- Mobile (trailed, semi-trailer, mounted on the base tractor frame);

- Stationary;

c) According to the method of loading wood:

- Chopping machines with horizontally located feed cartridge, wood to which is supplied by chain or belt conveyor, roller table or screws;

- Chopping machines with feed cartridge inclined in vertical plane, wood in which moves due to gravitational forces;

- Chopping machines with combined loading equipped with two cartridges;

d) By the method of removing chips from the machine:

- Removal of chips up the chip line by air flow;

- Removal of chips down onto the conveyor;

- "Non-impact" chip removal, which occurs approximately in the direction of feed to the machine.
